Originally conceived by innovator Alec Issigonis, the Mini was intended to be the smallest possible car that could accommodate four adults and luggage. It measured approximately 10 feet long, 4 feet high and 4 feet wide in an era when most cars were the size of Hummers.
Shortly after the Mini's debut, famed race car builder John Cooper had a great idea, and he began work to enhance the performance and handling of the Mini.
Introduced in 1961 as the Mini Cooper, the car became an instant hit in competitive motorsports.
Today, one of the most desirable Mini's is the 1963 Mini Cooper S. This high-performance model is a 3-time winner of the prestigious Monte Carlo Rally .
